A DIY Weekend Re-Cap

Oh man.. another weekend gone, but a successful one at that! Between eating some good food, going to a play, hanging out with friends, & some family time, we actually got some projects done around the house. I know I say this a lot when I do these “DIY weekend re-caps” but a lot of the things we did this weekend weren’t photogenic like how we cleaned out the garage for hours, prepped the kitchen for new windows [hopefully coming this week], & of course some farm things. But some thing we did are noteworthy here on the blog today & progress was made in our fixer upper which is always something to celebrate….

The biggest thing we did [and the thing that took the most time] was painting our office! We painted above the shiplap a contrasting color to the shiplap & oh man, I totally recommend spraying shiplap & not painting it with a roller… it’s not the easiest thing to paint because of the grooves, but we did it! I still have to finish the floor boards [see the tape on the floor still], hang all the things, get a new rug, and so much more.. but painted walls feels so good! I will be blogging the progress and details more this week, but I’m feeling pretty good about our progress in here & I hope you love it so far too!

We did a MASSIVE furniture switch in our house this weekend inspired by bringing in a large white cabinet that was in our garage for the longest time. We brought the large white cabinet into our front living room & moved two cabinets from that room & placed one in our back living room & one in our office. Sorry if that was confusing… all the furniture moving is hard to keep up with. But I’m LOVING this blanket cabinet in the back living room now right outside the office. I’m also loving our chair switch in the front living room of putting them in front of the fireplace. These chairs were in front of the blanket cabinet in the front living room so when that left, the chairs changed as well! I’ll be sharing the big white cabinet we moved in to the front living room very soon.

I picked a bunch of our hydrangea blooms out of our yard & even after filling a dough bowl & more it didn’t even put a dent into the blooms.. the hydrangeas were crazy! The blooms were at their peak so I wanted to get them while they were hot & I’ve dreamed of a million hydrangeas in our dining room all summer so I made it happen. I’ll be blogging this whole space later this week, but couldn’t help but share these pretty blooms early. Aren’t they gorgeous?

Last, but not least… Grace was so naughty this weekend so we “DIY-ed” a new diaper for her. haha. Really though, we did. She is proving as she gets older that she is a barn animal & that there is a reason we don’t keep sheep in our houses. She loves coming inside and hanging out this us, but her curiosity & diaper failures are making it harder and harder to have her in the house with us. To make things better we have been putting a DIY t-shirt diaper over her regular diaper and it helped a little bit. I’m telling you all of this for an excuse to show you her cute lamb diaper butt. Also, we have been putting mirrors on the floor because she loves looking at herself. Sadly I also think she thinks it’s her friend in the mirror.

So that’s a shortened version of our “DIY” weekend. We also got a sink in our coffee bar & our entryway bathroom this past week as well that I will be sharing more of later, but I’m so ecstatic to have running water on our first level. It was getting rough without it. We had a plumber come and install the plumbing so it really wasn’t our DIY project this weekend, but it still kind of counts right? Cheers to running water! Thank you guys for stopping by the blog today & for always supporting our fixer upper journey & all we go through. I appreciate you stopping by the blog daily & for sharing it with your friends & family.. it means the world to me! Thank you. xx
